Overview

Pragmatic Play have been selling candy since Sweet Bonanza arrived, and half the industry then started building its own versions. Sweet Bonanza 1000 is the 2024 rebuild, and it keeps everything that you’re already familiar with: the same 6 reel, 5 row trays of lollipops and fruit, 8 matching symbols paying wherever they land, the same tumbling mechanic that drops more sugar behind the winners, but with a far higher ceiling on top and a price attached to reaching it.

How a win works

There are no paylines here and you need 8 or more of the same symbol anywhere on the screen to win. Winning symbols vanish, the survivors fall to the bottom, fresh ones drop in from above, and the whole thing pays again if another 8 land. Pragmatic put no limit on how many times a spin can tumble, and the total feeds your balance once the falling stops.

The symbols at €2.00

12 red hearts pay 50 times your stake and 12 bananas pay 2, so the strip runs 25 times from top to bottom, and nothing pays from less than 8. That floor of 8 is why the base game has no small wins in the way a payline slot does. A spin either finds a group of 8 or it gives you nothing at all, and at a €2.00 stake the fruit at the bottom of the strip hands back less than half of it when it does land.

The lollipop scatter sits outside that table. 4 of them pay €6.00, five pay €10.00 and 6 pay €200.00, so the jump from 5 scatters to 6 is a massive 20x.

The free spins

4 lollipops anywhere on the screen open 10 free spins, and 3 more landing during the round add another 5. The round itself looks like the base game with the lights turned down, and for the first spin or two it plays like it too.

The multiplier bombs

The 1000 in the name refers to the multiplier bombs, and you can only reach them during the free spins round. Pragmatic ship them at 14 values, from 2x up through 8x, 25x and 100x to the 1,000x that gives the game its title. Any bomb on screen stays put until the tumbling stops.

When more than one appears, the values are added rather than multiplied together, and the whole tumble sequence is then multiplied by that total. 3 modest bombs of 8x, 12x and 20x make 40x, and a €4.00 tumble underneath them turns into €160.00.

So the base game has no bombs in it at all while the bonus is built entirely around them, making the two games feel very different.

The two buys

There are two buy buttons here buying different games.

The 20x floor is the big difference between the buy options. In the standard round a bomb can land on 2x and do almost nothing to a small tumble; in the Super round the weakest bomb in the game is 10 of those, and 3 of them together clear 60x before the tumble total is even counted.

At the €2.00 opening stake that’s €200.00 for the first door and €1,000.00 for the second, which is a lot of money to put on ten spins. What the higher price buys is the removal of the outcome where the bombs turn up and do nothing.

The Ante Bet

Turning the ante on raises your stake by a quarter and doubles the chance of the free spins arriving on their own. It also switches the buy buttons off completely. You can chase the round or you can purchase it, but can’t do both.

Four RTPs, not one

Pragmatic print 4 return figures on the game’s own rules screen, one for each way of playing it:

The spread is five hundredths of a percent, so it won’t change how you play. It does tell you that the most expensive way into this game gives back the most, which runs against what players usually assume about a bonus buy.

Separately from all 4, the casino you play at chooses which build of the game it licenses, and Pragmatic certify this one at 96.53%, 95.52% and 94.51%. That gap is 2 full points and it dwarfs anything above, so check the number on the game’s own rules screen before you settle in anywhere.

The design

Bright, glossy and completely unchanged from the game it rebuilds: a candy landscape, fruity boiled sweets, and a lovely night-time palette that drops over the screen when the free spins start. It reads clearly at speed, which is helpful when all the good moments are in the tumbles.

Where the game sits

• The grid and the tumble: straight from Sweet Bonanza, with nothing altered.
• The multiplier bombs: the same idea Pragmatic use across their sugar games, stretched to a 1,000x top value.
• The 20x floor: the genuinely new thing, and the reason the second buy exists at all.
